Giorgio Maggi to race a Lamborghini in 12-Hrs of Mugello with Konrad Motorsport

Giorgio Maggi is following his passion for endurance racing. The Swiss driver is all set to contest his first GT3 race. The 19-year-old will take part in the 12-Hrs of Mugello in a Lamborghini Huracán prepared by Konrad Motorsport, 17th – 18th March 2017.

During the winter, Giorgio Maggi stepped on the gas in the Asian Le Mans Series and achieved his maiden victory in the LMP2 class at Fuji in Japan. His achievements soon aroused the interest of a number of teams. His desire to continue in endurance racing and play to his strengths led to many enquiries, and the decision to visit Lamborghini was quickly made, resulting in the chance to join the tried and tested outfit at Konrad Motorsport.

The Swiss driver also has an Italian passport and is following a heartfelt desire to race a Lamborghini. Maggi: “After a month without driving, I start to get withdrawal symptoms, so I’m delighted to be contesting this particular race in a Lamborghini and laying the foundation for a successful run in GT3 motor racing.”

While he may be a newcomer to GT3, his team-mate, Lamborghini works driver Marco Mapelli, has plenty of experience. “I’m certain I can learn a lot about GT3 in Mugello, and I’m looking forward to working with an experienced team-mate.”

The 12-hour race in Tuscany forms part of the 24-hour Endurance Series and is second only to the 24 Hrs of Dubai as a season highlight. The 12-hr race is spread over two days to give fans more chance of seeing the action out on track. Drivers will commence battle for the lead in a four-hour stint on Friday. To be a winner, though, you have to be first over the line on Saturday after the rest of the race, or, to put it in Giorgio Maggi’s words: Push the pedal to the metal!
